Bedding for Night Sweats

Bedding by need

Bedding for night sweats

Bedding cannot stop night sweats, and we will not pretend it can. What it can change is how the bed feels when you wake up and how easy it is to change. This page sets out the facts about our fabrics so you can choose for yourself.

What our fabrics are like

Plain Cotton is a 200 thread count percale: a plain weave with a crisp, matt surface. French linen is stonewashed flax at 170 GSM; in our own words, it takes up moisture and hands it back, and dries in a warm room.

Silky Cotton sateen is the densest and smoothest of our cottons, and Cloud Cotton is a two-layer double gauze. Both are pure cotton; people who wake warm usually choose percale or linen instead.

Our duvet insert is a 10.5 tog polyester micro-fibre duvet. It is machine washable at home.

Bedding is not a treatment. If night sweats are new, frequent or come with other symptoms, speak to your GP.

Practical ways to set up the bed

Keep a second set. Two fitted sheets and two sets of pillowcases in the same size mean the bed can be changed at 3am without a wash in between. Spare Plain Cotton pillowcases start at £7.90 each.

Choose a colour you can wash often. Whites and pale greys can be washed hot and repeatedly without showing it; follow our care guide for each fabric.

Think about layers. A lighter cover and a separate throw at the foot of the bed are easier to adjust than one heavy duvet.

Questions about bedding for night sweats

What bedding is best if I get night sweats?

Many people choose cotton percale or linen. Our Plain Cotton is a 200 thread count percale with a crisp, matt surface; our French linen is a 170 GSM stonewashed flax that takes up moisture and hands it back. Neither is a treatment for night sweats.

Can bedding stop night sweats?

No. Bedding can change how the bed feels and how easy it is to change, but it does not treat night sweats. If they are new, frequent or come with other symptoms, speak to your GP.

Should I avoid sateen?

Sateen is the densest, smoothest cotton weave. It is still pure cotton, but people who wake warm usually prefer percale or linen.

How many sets of bedding should I have?

Two sets in the same size let you change the bed without waiting for a wash. A Plain Cotton double set is £59.90 in the builder.

Is your duvet insert washable?

Yes. Our 10.5 tog duvet insert is polyester micro-fibre and can be machine washed at home.
