Bedding by room
Guest room bedding
A spare room needs bedding that looks good the moment someone arrives, survives a cupboard between visits and does not cost what your own bed did. Our Plain Cotton percale is the one we suggest: our widest range of colours, our lowest price, and crisp on the first night.
Off White Plain Cotton percale, double set £59.90. Or choose a colour for the room in the builder.

Setting up a spare bed
Measure the bed first. Spare rooms often have a small double (120 cm wide) or a single that is really a 4 ft bed. Our UK bed sizes guide has every measurement.
One set on the bed, one in the cupboard. A second set means a quick change between guests without waiting for a wash.
Choose for the room, not the guest. White and sand go with anything; a single soft colour such as sky blue or sage makes a small room feel finished.
Add two spare pillowcases. Guests often want an extra pillow. Plain Cotton pillowcases start at £7.90 each.
| Fabric | Weave and weight | How it feels | Double set | For a guest room |

| Cloud Cotton | Double gauze: two fine 200 thread count layers joined | Soft and crinkled; air sits between the two layers | £79.90 | If you want it soft on night one |
| Silky Cotton | Sateen, 300 thread count | Smooth with a low lustre; denser and heavier in the hand | £104.90 | For a guest room that doubles as a hotel |

Questions about guest room bedding
What is the best bedding for a guest room?
Something durable, easy to wash and neutral enough for any guest. Our Plain Cotton percale is our usual suggestion: 42 colours, crisp from the first night and a double set from £59.90.
How many sets of bedding does a guest bed need?
Two: one on the bed and one ready in the cupboard, so you can change it between guests without waiting for a wash.
What colour bedding is best for a spare room?
White, off white or sand suit any room and any guest. One soft colour, such as sky blue or sage, makes a small room look finished.
What size bedding does a small double need?
A small double is 120 × 190 cm and takes a Double 200 × 200 cm duvet cover. See our small double bedding page for the sheet.
Can I order bedding for an unusual spare bed?
Yes. Beds outside the standard sizes can be made to order; see custom sizes.
