Scandi Bedding

Bedding by look

Scandi bedding

The Scandinavian bed is plain on purpose: white, grey or black, no prints, natural fibres, and texture doing the work that pattern would do elsewhere. At most, one muted accent. Everything we make is a solid colour in pure cotton or flax, so the look is easy to build.

Plain colour, real texture

Without pattern, the weave is what you see: crisp percale, crinkled gauze, slubby linen.

The Scandi bed in four rules

1. Solid colours only. White, off white, grey, charcoal or black. Every piece we make is a solid colour.

2. Natural fibres. Pure cotton or flax. All four of our fabrics are one or the other.

3. Texture over pattern. Mix a crinkled Cloud Cotton duvet with a crisp percale sheet, or put linen pillowcases on a cotton bed.

4. One accent, muted. If you add colour, choose something greyed: blue grey, sage or a dusty blue.

Questions about Scandi bedding

What is Scandi bedding?

Bedding in the Scandinavian style: solid colours, mostly white, grey and black, in natural fibres such as cotton and linen, with texture rather than pattern.

What colours are Scandinavian bedding?

Whites, off whites, greys from pale to charcoal, and black, sometimes with one muted accent such as blue grey or sage.

Is linen or cotton more Scandi?

Both. Linen gives the relaxed, textured look; crinkled cotton double gauze gives a similar softness at a lower price. A Cloud Cotton double set is £79.90, a linen double set £139.90.

Do Scandinavians use a top sheet?

Usually not. A fitted sheet and a duvet in a cover is the norm, often one duvet each on a double bed.

How much is a plain grey double set?

A Plain Cotton percale double set of fitted sheet, duvet cover and pillowcases is £59.90 in the colour combo builder, in any of its greys.
