Bedding by need
Bedding for dog and cat owners
If the dog sleeps on the bed, two things matter: a fabric dog hair does not stick to, and a colour close to the coat. Of our four fabrics, Silky Cotton shows hair least: a 300 thread count sateen, dense and smooth enough that hair and fur stay on the surface and brush straight off. Then pick the shade nearest your dog.
Charcoal Grey Silky Cotton sateen, double set £104.90. Change the colour to match your dog or cat in the builder.

Each photograph is the variant itself. Prices start at the single size; pillowcases are priced each.
Smooth, dense and easy to brush off
Sateen has a close, smooth face, so hair sits on top instead of sticking.

Match the bed to the coat
Hair shows by contrast. Choose the shade closest to your pet.
| Coat | Colours that hide it | Build |
|---|---|---|
| Black or dark brown | Charcoal Grey, Chocolate | Charcoal Grey sateen |
| Grey or brindle | Smoke, Silver, Charcoal Grey | Smoke sateen |
| Golden, fawn or ginger | Oat Milk, Light Beige, Rust | Oat Milk sateen |
| Cream or white | Milky White, Vanilla | Milky White sateen |
| Mixed or tricolour | Mid tones: Smoke, Oat Milk | Oat Milk sateen |
Why sateen. Of our four fabrics, Silky Cotton has the densest, smoothest weave. Crinkled double gauze and slubby linen have more texture for hair to catch in; percale sits in between. See percale vs sateen and our bedding fabrics guide.
Practical habits. A throw at the foot of the bed where the dog sleeps is easier to wash than the whole set; see throws and blankets. Shake the duvet cover outside before washing, and follow the care guide for sateen.
Sateen colours to build in
Each opens the builder with a double bed in that colour of Silky Cotton.
Pairings that forgive a little hair
Mid and dark tones with a lighter accent.
The bed pictures here are styled previews of each pairing in our fabrics; the product photographs above show every piece in the colour you get. More pairings in how to mix bedding colours.
Questions about bedding for dog owners
What is the best bedding for dog hair?
Silky Cotton sateen. Of our four fabrics it shows dog hair least: a 300 thread count sateen, dense and smooth enough that hair does not stick to it. It stays on the surface and brushes off rather than working into the cloth.
Which fabric does dog hair not stick to?
Of our fabrics, Silky Cotton sateen. Its dense, smooth face gives hair little to catch on. Crinkled Cloud Cotton and slubby linen have the most texture, so hair clings to them more; Plain Cotton percale sits in between.
What colour bedding hides dog hair?
The colour closest to your dog. Charcoal or chocolate for dark coats, smoke or silver for grey, oat or light beige for golden coats, and milky white for white dogs.
Is sateen or percale better with pets?
Sateen. Both are cotton, but sateen has the denser, smoother face. Percale is a crisp, matt plain weave with a little more texture.
Is linen good for dog owners?
Linen is lovely but textured, so hair catches more easily, and it creases. If your dog sleeps on the bed, sateen is the easier choice.
How much is a sateen double set?
A Silky Cotton sateen double set of fitted sheet, duvet cover and pillowcases is £104.90 in the colour combo builder, in any of 16 colours.
