The Seasonal Edit

The Seasonal Edit

Two beds a year, changed twice.

A summer bed and a winter bed, with a few favourites that stay on all year.

The bed should change with the year, the way your wardrobe does. In summer that means lighter weights, shorter cuts and crisp, matte weaves. In winter it means longer cuts, heavier silk and denser, smoother cloth. Everything below is sorted into one of two edits, plus a short list of pieces that stay out in every season.

Now · October

The autumn changeover.

The nights are drawing in, so this is the month to put the summer pieces away. Bring out the long sets, the heavier silk and the sateen, and keep a throw at the foot of the bed.

Chapter one

The Winter Edit

A grey winter bedroom with frost on the window and bare trees outside
Folded cream and camel knitwear resting on a white bed
Low winter sun casting a window shape across a rumpled bed in a dark room

The winter bed is all about weight and coverage: full-length sleeves and legs, a heavier silk and a denser weave. These are the pieces for late October to March.

Sleepwear
Long pyjama sets in Modal Cloud and pure cotton, cut full-length.
Silk
22 momme mulberry silk, our heaviest weight. Momme is silk's measure of weight, so more momme means more silk in the cloth.
Bedding
Silky Cotton, a 300 TC sateen. Its four-over-one weave gives it a smooth face and a soft sheen.
Layers
The Cloud Cotton throw for the foot of the bed, and a cotton terry robe for the morning.

Chapter two

The Summer Edit

An open wooden window looking out over green summer countryside and hills
Golden evening light through a linen curtain onto a bed with a wooden headboard
Morning sun across an unmade white bed in a bright, simple bedroom

The summer bed is lighter on every count: shorter cuts, lighter weights and matte weaves that feel crisp against the skin. These are the pieces for May to early September.

Sleepwear
Short and cami sets in Modal Cloud, pure cotton and 19 momme silk, plus the silk nightshirt.
Linen
French flax linen, with an open, slubbed texture that relaxes with every wash.
Percale
Plain Cotton, a 200 TC percale. Its one-over-one weave gives a matte, crisp finish, like a good shirt.

Every season

The pieces that stay out all year

Some pieces belong to neither edit, so they appear in both. These are the ones you can leave on the bed in any month.

Cloud Cotton
Double gauze: two fine layers of cotton woven together, so it's light enough for June and layered enough for January.
19 momme silk
Long silk sets and the silk robe, in a mulberry silk weight that sits between our summer camis and the 22 momme winter sets.
Duvet insert
The 10.5 tog all-season insert: one duvet for the whole year, with the covers changing around it.
Eye masks
Silk and Modal Cloud eye masks for light summer mornings and dark winter ones alike.
