The getting-ready photographs are the ones that end up framed. They are also the only part of the day where everyone is in something you chose rather than something they bought. That is worth ten minutes of planning.
Match or coordinate?
Two approaches, and they photograph very differently.
Matching — everyone in the same set. Cleanest in a group shot, and the bride stands out by doing something different: a white or silk set while the party wears a colour. This is the safer choice if the photographs matter more than individual preference.
Coordinating — everyone in the same colour family, different prints or cuts. Reads warmer and less staged, and it lets people pick something they will actually wear again. Works best when you set a tight rule: one palette, one length. "Any pink one, all long sets" gives you a coherent group photo without dictating.
What actually photographs well
- Light and mid tones over black. Getting-ready rooms are usually lit by one window. Pale sets bounce that light back into faces; black absorbs it and turns the group into silhouettes.
- Long sets over short. In seated and cross-legged shots — which is most of them — long sets keep the frame calm. Short sets photograph well standing up and awkwardly on a bed.
- Small prints or solids. A large-scale print repeated across six people fights the camera. One statement print on the bride, quieter sets on everyone else.
- Matte over shiny, unless it is real silk. Cheap satin flares under a flash. Modal and cotton do not.

The sizing conversation
This is the part that derails bridal orders. A bridal party is rarely one size range, and asking people for their dress size the week before a wedding is nobody's favourite errand.
Three things make it painless:
- Order in the same range. Our women's sets run UK 6 to UK 28, so the whole party can be in the identical style. Nobody gets told their size is not available, which is the outcome you are avoiding.
- Ask once, in writing, early. A group message with a link to the size guide gets better answers than asking people to guess.
- Size up on anyone who hesitates. Pyjamas are meant to be relaxed, and a generous fit photographs better than a tight one.
When to order
Work backwards from the wedding date:
- Orders are dispatched within 1–3 business days.
- UK and Western EU delivery is typically 3–7 business days after dispatch.
- Unworn items with tags can be returned within 30 days, so you want the parcel in hand with time to swap a size.
Order at least four weeks ahead. That gives you a fortnight of buffer for one size exchange without anyone panicking. Six weeks if the party is large or spread across addresses.
One more practical note: have everything delivered to one address. Chasing six separate parcels the week of a wedding is a job nobody volunteered for.
